Information we receive
Ghost Roots does not require a site account. If you contact us, we receive the email address and other information you choose to include. Standard hosting and security logs may record an IP address, browser type, device information, requested URL, referring page, and timestamp. These records help deliver the site, maintain security, diagnose errors, and prevent abuse.
Cookies and similar technologies
Ghost Roots and its service providers may use cookies, local storage, pixels, and similar technologies. These technologies can remember preferences, measure visits, provide site features, protect against fraud, limit repeated advertising, and support personalized or non-personalized advertising where permitted.
You can restrict or clear cookies through your browser. Where a consent interface is available, you can use it to accept, reject, or adjust the categories presented. Declining optional technologies should not prevent access to the site's editorial content.
Google AdSense and advertising cookies
Ghost Roots uses Google AdSense, an advertising service provided by Google. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor's prior visits to Ghost Roots or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
Advertising may be personalized using information such as previous visits, or it may be non-personalized and based on contextual information such as the content being viewed and general location. Even non-personalized advertising may use cookies or similar identifiers for purposes such as frequency capping, aggregated reporting, fraud prevention, and security.
You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. You can also use YourAdChoices to manage certain participating companies' use of information for interest-based advertising. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services in Google's partner-sites notice.
If additional third-party advertising vendors or networks are enabled, they may also use cookies or similar technologies subject to their own privacy notices and available opt-out controls.
Google Analytics
Ghost Roots uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site. Google Analytics may collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser details, referral information, and interaction events. We use aggregated reporting to improve navigation, content, reliability, and performance.
Google's handling of this information is described in its Privacy Policy. Browser settings and any consent controls shown on the site may also be used to limit analytics cookies where applicable.
Grow and Journey by Mediavine
Ghost Roots uses Grow by Mediavine for reader features and as part of its application to Journey by Mediavine. Grow may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies to provide features such as saving or sharing content, manage consent, recognize returning users, measure engagement, and support authenticated or personalized experiences when a visitor chooses to use them.
If Ghost Roots is accepted into and activates Journey, Mediavine and its advertising partners may process information to deliver, measure, personalize, secure, and report advertising in accordance with the choices available to visitors. Ghost Roots will update this policy if the services used or the way data is processed materially changes.
Information about Mediavine's practices, partners, and privacy controls is available from the Mediavine Legal and Privacy Center.
Consent and regional privacy choices
Privacy choices may differ according to location. Where required, a consent interface may ask whether advertising, analytics, personalization, or related technologies can be used. Available controls may include accepting, rejecting, or customizing optional uses and later changing a previous selection.
You may also have rights under applicable law to request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of certain personal information, or to object to or opt out of certain processing. To make a request relating to information controlled by Ghost Roots, use the contact page. Requests concerning a third-party service may need to be submitted directly through that provider's privacy controls.
How information is used and shared
Information may be used to operate and secure the site, provide requested features, understand which pages are useful, investigate errors, answer messages, handle corrections or image-rights questions, administer advertising, and meet legal obligations.
Information may be processed by providers supporting hosting, analytics, audience features, consent, advertising, email, and security. It may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect the rights or safety of the site or others, or as part of a business transfer. Ghost Roots does not sell a reader email list and does not publish contact messages as testimonials without permission.
Retention and security
Messages and technical records are retained only as long as reasonably needed for their purpose, security, dispute handling, or legal requirements. Third-party providers maintain their own retention practices. No internet transmission or storage method is completely secure, but reasonable measures are used to protect the information within our control.
Children and sensitive information
Ghost Roots is a general-audience editorial site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request personal information from children. Please do not send medical records, payment information, passwords, or other sensitive personal information through the contact address.
Questions and changes
For a privacy question or a request relating to information you submitted to Ghost Roots, use the contact page. We may need enough information to verify the request and locate the relevant record.
This policy may change when the site's services, advertising relationships, or legal obligations change. The date above reflects a substantive review, not an automatic build date.
